ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Bucks Students' Union is committed to minimising the harmful effects of its operations on the environmental by means of a programme of continous improvement. In particular we will:
Meet and where appropriate exceed the requirements of all relevant legislation - where no regulation exists, we shall set out own standards informed by relevant codes of practice and guidelines.
Re-use equipment where possible, increase recycling and promote the use of recycled materials.
Dispose of materials in an environmentally sensitive manner.
Promote and manage energy and water efficiency in all our operations and incorporate energy and water efficiency measures in all new building and refurbishment projects.
Influence our major suppliers to minimise the negative impact of their operations on the environment.
Promote sustainable forms of transport in accord with the transport of the town.
Work pro-actively with the local authority, other universities and the community at large to progress environmental initiatives and exchange best practise.
Influence future generations by including the principles of good environmental performance in relevant course cirriculum and ensuring students have the opportunity to shape/influence the University's environmental programme.
Ensure staff receive relevant environmental training where necessary.
Publicly demonstrate our commitment to the environment and continual improvement by maintaining and extending our external certification to the Sound Impact standard.
Set objectives and targets and install management programmes to achieve them.
Make all objectives and targets publicly available.
