Our environmental agenda and lobbying of the University to improive theirs has already produced some very real results Union applying for Sound Impact recognition Dec 07 Halls recycling at Wycombe instigated in 2007 lUnion Working party established June 07 lFirst Fair Trade working party meeting Nov 2007 lTesco vouchers for schools scheme being developed Dec 2007 Recycling centre established in 2007 at the Wycombe Campus and recyling becoming embedded into waste management. University working party established with Union membership 2007 Clothes and Food drives established in Halls at the end of each team 2007 Energy efficiency being built into campus redevelopment 2006 Recyling established at Chalfont Halls in 2006 Halls Recycling at Chalfont negotiated in 2005 Fair Trade Cafe established in the Union Venue at Wycombe 2004 University pursuaded to buy Green electricity in 2003 Environmental Committee Established 2007 Fairtrade Status achieved 2009 The Bucks Environmental Challenge developed 2010 For more information or if you want to get involved please email union@bcuc.ac.uk and cheande@bcuc.ac.uk or come into one of our offices and ask about it.
The Union is currently preparing to be assessed under the Sound Impact Awards Scheme.
This is run by NUS Services and rewards Union's who are taking positive steps to reduce their environmental impact. We are currently examining our practises to reduce our electricity consumption and maximise the amount of waste we reuse or recycle.
